Super Bowl Sunday Organ Concert Available Online 13 February

Once again, organs at Community of Christ Auditorium and Temple, in Independence, Missouri, USA are featured in the online Super Bowl Sunday concert. The free 13 February event is at 2:00 p.m. Central Standard Time, and it will be available to view for about a month.

Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns, organist Jan Kraybill has recorded her 23rd Annual Super Bowl Sunday concert. This means anyone, anywhere with an internet connection can watch the Grammy-nominated musician at the time of the viewer’s choice after 13 February.

This year's concert, "Memories and Mutations," is inspired by the virus that has shaped our lives. COVID-19 causes us to treasure memories of people and moments, and adapt and change our behaviors even as the virus mutates and we learn more about it. This concert includes a brand-new piece, and a duet played entirely by the organist’s feet!

The repertoire:

  • Paul Ayers: “Toccatina on Here Comes the Sun” (based on the song by George Harrison)

  • Johann Sebastian Bach: “Passacaglia BWV 582”

  • Maurice Duruflé: “Prelude and Fugue on the name ALAIN”

  • Benjamin Cornelius-Bates: “Fantasia on ‘I Wonder...’: in memoriam Lydia Agnew Speller (1954-2021)”

  • Paul Ayres: “Intermezzo from ‘Suite for Eric’ ”

  • Denis Bédard (b. 1950): “Cat Duet Suite”
